My name is Michaelle Barbor , I’m the founder of this sustainable home décor boutique.
Background and Education
After high school, I initially enrolled in dental school, a pursuit more aligned with parental expectations than my own passion.
Two years in, I decided to pivot, ultimately earning undergraduate degrees in International Business and Supply Chain Management.
I further specialized with an advanced degree in Information Systems, concentrating on Supply Chain Management, from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro.
Multilingual Expertise
My proficiency in three languages—English, French, and Spanish—has been a significant asset, particularly for navigating international markets and sustainable supply chains.
This skill set broadens Elfin View’s reach and impact, making it a truly global venture.
Professional Landscape
Over the past 15 years, I’ve had the distinct privilege of contributing to diverse sectors including accounting, hospitality, disaster recovery in remote locations, and technology.
My role as an EMT with the Haitian Red Cross was particularly formative, extending until just after the devastating earthquake in January 2010.
This range of experiences has not only honed my skills but also deeply influenced how I approach business challenges, especially in the realm of supply chain management.
Personal Life
I’ve been rocking dreadlocks for over five years now, although my most recent set is about two years old. Due to a genetic blood disorder, I undergo chemotherapy, which affects the length and health of my hair. But life’s challenges don’t define me; they refine me.
I’m blessed to be married and a mother to beautiful daughters. We’ve made our home in North Carolina, a haven that aligns with our values of sustainability and tranquility. When I’m not knee-deep in work, you’re likely to find me in the great outdoors hiking, rowing, or striking a yoga pose—these activities keep me connected to myself and to nature.
Origin Story
I was born and raised in Haiti, a nation that’s both incredibly proud and resilient, yet persistently challenged by environmental concerns.
From deforestation to unregulated mining and plastic waste, the plight of Haiti’s environment profoundly impacted me. Witnessing how these environmental issues bled into the social, economic, and international well-being of the nation ignited my passion for sustainability at a young age.
It’s these formative experiences that drove me to move abroad for further studies and ultimately led me to found Elfin View…
My resolve to create a more sustainable world is not merely a professional agenda; it’s deeply rooted in my life’s mission.
Influenced by the environmental struggles I witnessed growing up in Haiti, I’ve channeled this passion into making Elfin View a hub for those who seek to harmonize their living spaces with eco-friendly choices.
